Tasting Notes
“This Merlot has an extremely distinctive and deep ruby colour with mild purple reflections. It is exciting even when one just looks at it.
In a still glass, at first this wine has an aroma of raspberry and blackcurrant, typical of Merlot. When the glass is rotated the wine releases an array of other different aromas: wood seasonings and spices.
Wood in this Merlot is balanced so it is not prevailing. Consequently, at the second sniff, one smells the aroma of cedar as well as of plenty of berry fruits. By sitting in a glass the wine decants itself, and thus opens up and becomes more and more attractive on the nose.
The taste will only reconfirm this distinctive aroma. Its retro-nasal taste is extremely strong, harmonic and long-lasting. Mineralisation of this wine is interesting, which is due to the soil where it grows. Its freshness also comes from the combination of red and white soil. The Merlot “educated” in this manner has a good potential for aging and it is gastronomically adaptable to many culinary dishes.”
The 2012 vintage is just as excellent.
Excellent with red meat and roast turkey.
