Pilato Malvazija Sur Lie 2015

Pilato winery is located in the small village Lašići, slightly inland from the West coast of Istria. The climate is ideal for producing wines that show a sense of place, with full expression of the fruit. The climate is moderated by the Adriatic ocean, where the summers are hot, but has sufficient rain throughout the year.

Pilato Malvazija Sur Lie 2015 is made from 100% Malvazija, the indigenous grape from Istria. After harvest, the grapes are fermented in Oak barrels (mix of new and old). The wine is then matured on the primary lees for 4 months. This wine won a gold medal at the IWSC awards 2019, with a score of 95 points.

Tasting Notes

Bright yellow colour, with green tints. The nose is fresh, with citrus fruit, tangerine and a hint of bread and yeast. The mouth feel is medium bodied, with the signature Malvazija minerality and fresh citrus fruit flavours and good acidity. There are hints of vanilla, leading to a medium long finish..
