Damjanić Malvazija Akacia 2016

The family owned Damjanić winery is located in Fuškulin in western Istria, just inland from Poreč. The 7 acres of vineyards are located between 30m – 70m above sea level, on primarily south westerly facing slopes looking towards the Adriatic Sea. The vines are grown on a mix of deep terra rossa soil and sporadic skeletal soils, which gives the wines it’s special flavour.

Tasting Notes

Damjanić Malvazija Akacia 2016 is a Quality white wine from the west of the Istrian peninsular, south west of Poreč. Malvazija Istarska (aka Malvasia Istriana) is an indigenous white grape to the region of Istria.

Inviting aromas of honey, ripe apple and acacia flowers.  It’s firm and still youthful with citrus notes, a hint of quince, typical salty mineral structure and a long finish.  Serious and interesting wine showing another dimension of Malvazija and its affinity for acacia barrels. Garlicky roast chicken, Mediterranean vegetable dishes or even lighter meats such as rose veal would be good matches.
